RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
Directions
1.) In a medium saucepan, heat Milk and Margarine in a medium saucepan until Margarine melts.
2.) Remove from heat and add Warm Water (mixture should be around 110 degrees F (43 degrees C).
3.) In a large bowl, combine 1 Cup Flour, Yeast, Salt, Anise Seed and .25 Cups White Sugar.
4.) Beat in the warm milk mixture.
5.) Add Eggs and Orange Zest and beat until well combined.
6.) Stir in 1/2 cup of Flour and continue adding more flour until the dough is soft.
7.) Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.
8.) Place dough into a lightly greased bowl cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
9.) Punch dough down and shape into a large round loaf with a round knob on top.
10.) Place dough onto a baking sheet, cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
11.) Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 to 45 minutes. Brush with glaze once slightly cooled.
Glaze
1.) In a small saucepan, combine White Sugar, Orange Juice and Orange Zest.
2.) Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 2 minutes.
3.) Brush over top of bread after it has cooled slightly.
4.) Sprinkle glazed bread with White Sugar (optional).
