RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

Things To Try

Per ChatGPT:
- For extra flavor: You can add chopped onions or green peppers to the meat mixture.
- For added richness: Stir in shredded cheese like Cheddar or Swiss cheese to the mixture.
- Glaze: Consider making a glaze by combining ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a large bowl add:
- Ground beef
- Onion soup mix
- Crushed saltine crackers
- Beaten eggs

3. Mix the ingredients well until evenly combined and the mixture holds together.

4. Form the meat mixture into two squares loafs and place them side-by-side in a baking dish.

5. In a medium bowl mix together:
- Campbell’s soup cans
- Milk (pour just enough to coat the can and loosen the soup from the cans and dump into the bowl)

6. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C) for ground beef.

VERIFY THIS DURATION?

7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Added 9/8/25. Modified from original recipe from Sandra Hopkins. If using less than 3 lbs of meat, only reduce the amount of onion soup mix, salt and pepper. It needs enough liquid to cover the loaf well enough to cook evenly.
